Mr. Rush has consistently achieved exemplary results, earning him the “six of six” program award for meeting all performance outcome standards for the class of 2024. Two current JAG students, Nefera Webster and Isaiah Rodriguez, shared personal testimonies about the program’s impact. Webster is planning a career in graphic design, while Rodriguez has improved his soft skills with Mr. Rush’s support. The program’s success underscores its importance to the Vineland community, with a focus on expanding its reach to engage more students.

In a segment, Mrs. Terry Galooi, Director of Student Services, led the recognition of outstanding support staff members. Each honoree was acknowledged for their dedication and contributions to the school district. Noteworthy mentions included Crystal Villanoevo, known for her supportive role as a preschool instructional assistant, and Gabriella Aceo, recognized for creating a welcoming environment as an outstanding PAR professional.

The search for a new superintendent was another key topic, with an update on the process to narrow down 58 applicants to ten finalists. The selection process involves off-site interviews to ensure confidentiality, adhering to a strict code of ethics. The board emphasized the importance of finding a leader who meets all certification requirements and aligns with the district’s goals. The board will review all applications, with the search committee recommending ten applicants for interviews. This process aims to present two finalists to the board for final consideration.

Board member remarks further emphasized the collaborative efforts within the district. Appreciation was extended to Bob Rush and the JAG program, as well as the support staff, for their indispensable roles. The success of a recent culinary competition was noted, with plans to host another event for middle school students. Chef Paulie’s catering of the meeting was also praised.

Additionally, the board discussed the Rise Cafe program, which serves individuals with developmental disabilities through community-based instruction. This initiative provides students with real-life experiences in shopping, food service, and teamwork, preparing them for future employment opportunities. Another highlight was the recognition of 162 students from Duran School who achieved perfect attendance in March.
