The committee was presented with an anticipated year-end balance of approximately $440,000, though this figure remains subject to change due to potential unexpected expenditures, such as maintenance issues at Winthrop School. The forecast highlighted key budgetary dynamics, including a surplus in benefits and fixed charges due to lower health insurance costs and decreased unemployment claims. Conversely, capital and fixed assets faced a projected deficit primarily due to emergency repairs at Cutler School.

The special education budget was also scrutinized, revealing a surplus from prepayments of out-of-district tuitions in FY25. This surplus is intended to mitigate future deficits and manage emergencies, such as significant infrastructure repairs. The committee discussed the complexities of prepaying out-of-district tuitions, a practice adopted to address unforeseen budgetary pressures, but noted the challenges it introduces to financial planning.

In addition to these discussions, the committee addressed the annual reorganization of its roles. New appointments included Dana Allara as chair, Kristen Moon as vice chair, Tom Reed as secretary, and Amy Kunberger as vice secretary.
