Raferty urged the board to reconsider the take-home policy, highlighting potential negative impacts on family interactions and cybersecurity risks, particularly if the devices are used for activities like online banking. He thanked a staff member for her responsiveness to his inquiries and expressed a desire to help parents navigate these educational programs. The superintendent also highlighted recent county events celebrating educators, including a performance by Shawn Ferguson and his jazz ensemble.

The student board representatives provided updates on school activities, including a teacher appreciation luncheon and themed dress days. Upcoming events include a spring instrumental concert, the 40th annual honors award ceremony, and ongoing initiatives by the Interact Club and Black Student Union, such as a food drive with a final collection date on May 29. Additionally, prom ticket sales and various athletic events were noted, highlighting a busy schedule leading up to graduation.

The board addressed several business motions, including the approval of a playground bid for Badir, after reevaluating the initial lowest bidder’s submission.
