Little Falls Celebrates New Business Openings and Honors Retiring Police Chief
- Meeting Overview:
The Little Falls Town Council meeting was marked by the celebration of new local businesses, updates on public health initiatives, and the announcement of a police chief’s retirement. Discussions included the grand opening of a woman-owned dance studio, various community events, and an update on significant historical renovations.
One of the key highlights was the grand opening of Tucker Dance House, a woman-owned business in Little Falls. The new studio, operated by Gianna, received warm support from council members who attended the event. The council expressed enthusiasm for the positive impact the business is expected to have on the community, emphasizing the importance of supporting local entrepreneurs.
The meeting also featured an update from the Public Health Committee, highlighting an upcoming “Healthy Brain Habits” program aimed at reducing the risk of dementia through lifestyle changes. This community health initiative will take place at the Little Falls Civic Center, with more events planned in the coming months.
Further, the council acknowledged the successful summer reading kickoff event at the local library, which featured a petting zoo and a raffle for Crayola Factory tickets, attracting a large crowd and encouraging participation in the library’s summer reading program.
In addition, the upcoming 250th birthday of the nation will be celebrated with a dedication of the renovated front plaza at Old Town Hall, a project made possible by a grant from AARP. The event will coincide with the annual 4th of July street fair hosted by the PBA, promising a day of community celebration.
The council extended condolences to the family of retired Detective Captain Robert Ryker, who passed away recently, recognizing his over 30 years of service. Additionally, they announced the retirement of current Police Chief Brian Brault, inviting community members to attend his walkout ceremony.
