Liberty County School Board Considers Future Transport Safety and Approves Service Agreements
- Meeting Overview:
At the recent Liberty County School Board meeting, discussions touched on transportation safety improvements and several service agreements for the upcoming school year. A board member brought up the potential for restructuring school bus routes for enhanced student safety, while the board approved agreements with the Sheriff’s Office and Hope Behavioral Support Corporation. Additionally, a decision on partnering with the Department of Public Health was postponed for further consideration.
Transportation safety was a key topic, with a board member suggesting a change to a single line-up route to prevent students from walking between buses. This proposal, aimed at increasing safety, would require significant infrastructure changes, including the addition of sidewalks and coverings.
The board approved a contract service with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office for the 21st Century program. Additionally, the board finalized an agreement with Hope Behavioral Support Corporation to provide services for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.
A proposed agreement for registered nurse services with the Florida Department of Health was tabled until the next meeting, as more information was needed. Also discussed was the renewal of the MSBA BoardDocs license, with board members expressing satisfaction with its current performance.
