This rate is also 2.16% below the rollback rate of 4.9846 mills, resulting in a potential reduction of approximately $50 in school property taxes for homeowners. The Superintendent emphasized the necessity of adopting the full required local effort rate to secure $40.9 million in state funding under the Florida Education Finance Program (FEFP).

Alongside this financial decision, the board approved a tentative budget totaling $551 million for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.

Public comments during the meeting highlighted concerns regarding the consolidation of bus routes. Union representatives and bus drivers expressed apprehension about the proposal to cut routes, arguing that current bus capacity is already strained. They suggested that cutting routes could exacerbate existing issues and negatively affect student transportation.
