The meeting also addressed the operational protocols for the upcoming winter season. It was announced that the Acushnet Council on Aging will align its closure with the local schools and town hall during inclement weather, though the director and custodian staff will remain available for emergencies. Additionally, the board confirmed that the council serves as a warming shelter if needed.

In matters of community engagement, the council highlighted various events, although some had already occurred by the time of the meeting. These included a Christmas Bingo party, beginner’s watercolor classes, and a veterans’ coffee social hosted by Brad Fish. There was also a mention of a Christmas concert to benefit the South Coast Cancer Society, scheduled for December 15th.

The council continues to offer gently used medical equipment and incontinence supplies free of charge. They reiterated the availability of their monthly newsletters distributed throughout Acushnet, intended to keep residents informed about upcoming activities and resources.
