The town manager’s office provided additional context, explaining that Town Council, alongside a bankruptcy specialist, is currently working with the federal court to determine the amount owed in outstanding taxes, water, and sewer bills. This process is in a holding pattern pending the court’s decision.

Another discussion point was the approval of several reports and warrants. The board approved the motor vehicle and trailer abatement report for July 2024, which included eight abatements totaling $69,923. Additionally, they approved a supplemental warrant and commitment for 2024, which encompassed new constructions that were completed partway through the year. This resulted in tax dollars amounting to $12,768.24 and a CPA surcharge of $383.34.
