Five key goal areas were identified: parent and community involvement, student achievement, inclusion, communication, and resource awareness. Specific initiatives included creating parent surveys to identify support needs, enhancing student inclusion opportunities, and fostering better communication through newsletters.

The board also discussed significant improvements within the special education framework, including the introduction of a certified therapy dog named Ryder and enhancements to classroom facilities. The strategic planning efforts were outlined, with a five-year action plan aiming to build upon current initiatives. The plan included steps like forming subcommittees and gathering data to inform future actions.

In other business, the governance committee, chaired by a board member, reported on policy updates, including a review of library materials and resource materials. The committee also recommended the abolition of a policy regarding anti-choking devices due to the lack of FDA approval. The annual memorandum of agreement with local law enforcement was proposed for approval, maintaining the district’s collaboration with law enforcement agencies.
