During the public comment session, resident Robert Richardson raised questions regarding the West Street construction. He highlighted discrepancies between the plans he reviewed last fall and the current plans being marked out, which included changes to sidewalk and curb specifications. Richardson voiced concerns about potential narrowing of the road, which could lead to it becoming a one-way street, and the lack of transparency about final plans. Borough officials acknowledged that some plans had changed, particularly the placement of the sidewalk, and assured Richardson that there was no intention to make West Street one-way. The council promised to follow up on the sidewalk specifications and ensure Richardson reviewed the correct plans.

The council also discussed several ordinances related to affordable housing. Ordinance 2026-2040, concerning affordable housing set-asides, was voted down as it was superseded by a later ordinance, 2026-2043. The latter ordinance, which aligns with the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) model, was adopted. Additionally, Ordinance 2026-2041, relating to zoning regulations for the borough’s settlement agreement with the Fair Share Housing Center, was passed. It was noted that the zoning regulations are mandatory per a court order and are not subject to change by the council.
