During the session, the Council approved an amendment to the recreation fees and recreational events ordinance (Ordinance No. 4-2024). Additionally, the Council addressed police duty rates (Ordinance No. 5-2024). Both ordinances are set for a second and final reading on April 16.

The meeting also included the introduction of an ordinance (Ordinance No. 7-2024) to comply with new state regulations by amending the borough’s storm water control requirements.

The Council’s agenda further highlighted the community’s engagement with senior citizens and the youth. Discussions touched upon the potential use of the senior center during the town-wide garage sale on June 1st and the desire of the local senior community to establish a Facebook page for greater connectivity and information sharing. The Council also mentioned the Senior Resource Group’s upcoming breakfast event focused on healthcare education, set for May 16th.

In terms of supporting the borough’s youth, the Council discussed the Junior Police Academy, which is scheduled from June 24th to 28th, emphasizing the need for early sign-ups due to limited class size. The Bloomingdale Borough Youth Council (BBYC) was also on the agenda, with the first practice for its programs scheduled for August 5th, and a coaches clinic beginning on April 26th.

The meeting briefly covered the Council’s attention to public safety, including the resumption of on-street parking from April 1st and reminders about the Rave mobile safety system and the Recycle Coach app.

Lastly, the Council approved a resolution amending temporary budget appropriations (Resolution No. 20224 4.6) and authorized an agreement between the borough and the local Police Department (Resolution No. 20224 4.7), the latter of which concluded months of negotiation.
