Following the housing discussion, the council turned its attention to a presentation by Roadway Management Technologies. The proprietary system, which is mounted underneath fleet vehicles, objectively evaluates the road network’s condition and provides an interactive map platform highlighting problematic areas. This technology promises to streamline maintenance decision-making by supplying real-time insights into pavement deterioration and facilitating the adoption of best practices for road maintenance.

Council members expressed a keen interest in the potential efficiency and transparency benefits presented by the new technology. Debate emerged regarding the cost-effectiveness of the system, with council members probing into the pricing model and the long-term financial implications of its implementation. The council also inquired about the software’s ability to analyze a variety of road surfaces, including milled roads, and how it might inform resurfacing decisions. Furthermore, the council sought to understand the company’s expansion, its operational jurisdiction, and the number of counties and municipalities in Florida that have adopted the system.

In operational matters, the council moved to close the county office on two upcoming dates, June 19th and July 5th, with a swift motion and unanimous approval. This decision was made without further discussion.
