Another notable topic was the approval of a revised job description for the public utilities director. The changes were made to align the role more closely with that of the public works director and to clarify reporting structures. This revision comes after previous concerns were raised about the role’s responsibilities and oversight. Despite some reservations about unresolved issues from a prior resignation, the council decided to proceed with the hiring process using GMP Consultants, which offers a cost-effective guarantee for the recruitment effort.

The council also addressed the city’s software expenditures, which amount to approximately $500,000 annually. Members reviewed a detailed report on current software usage and costs, leading to a decision to prioritize the acquisition of new software for managing data requests, amid budget constraints.
