Dr. Christia Greenberg’s appointment as BCMS principal was a focal point of the meeting. The superintendent recommended her, citing her extensive experience and expertise in education. Dr. Greenberg expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with young adults in the school.

The meeting recognized educational excellence by celebrating Mr. Miracle as the educator of the year and Miss Kathy as the paraprofessional of the year. Building principals spoke about each recipient.

A community member during the public comment session commended the selection process for the new principal and lauded the district’s reputation and its administrative team, expressing optimism about the district’s future under new leadership.

Discussions on the next year’s district calendar addressed concerns about accommodating inclement weather closures, the scheduling of single session days, and professional development for staff. The board deliberated on the impact of unexpected closures on parents and explored ways to reduce the number of half-days, comparing the situation with other districts. The board also discussed the rationale behind specific dates for closures and single session days, and the process of making adjustments to the calendar.

In scheduling matters, the board addressed changes due to collective bargaining, including the accommodation of staff and parents’ schedules for President’s Day. The board also reviewed upcoming policies and curriculum instruction, approving substitutes, personnel, field trips, and conferences and travel. The approval of a black seal stien, a custodial certification for operating boilers, was discussed.

The Finance and Facilities committee reported on discussions about the rod Grant, hunting on school property, grants, leaking pipes at the middle school, and gym floor refinishing. Voting items under Finance and Facilities included the approval of line item transfers, acceptance of grants, and a donation from the Branchburg Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).

During the second public comment period, a teacher shared updates about successful school supply drives and the upcoming oral history fair.
