The chief noted that, following a challenging period where the department had lost 21 officers, they are now near full capacity with only a few positions left to fill. This development is expected to enhance the department’s efficiency and its ability to meet the community’s needs. During the ceremony, three officers were sworn in, including Sergeant Fernando Camacho, who has been with the department for several years and was recognized for his commendable service background, including military service in the United States Marine Corps and his recent completion of a master’s degree in criminal justice.

Officer David Toranos, a local resident who has garnered community support, was also sworn in. His introduction into the force was met with enthusiasm, as he is well-regarded within the community. Officer Joseph Cataldo, a transfer from the Stoneham Police Department, was the final officer sworn in. Cataldo brings years of experience and is expected to contribute to the department’s operations.

Acknowledgment was given to the families of the officers for their support and understanding of the demanding nature of police work. The council and attendees expressed appreciation for the officers’ dedication to keeping the community safe.
