Cinnaminson Town Council Secures $1.1 Million in Grant Funding for Key Projects
- Meeting Overview:
In its latest meeting, the Cinnaminson Town Council approved the insertion of over $1.1 million in grant funding into the municipal budget, covering essential police department equipment, the reconstruction of Industrial Highway, and a new inclusive playground at Memorial Park. These grants aim to lessen the financial burden on local taxpayers while enhancing community infrastructure and services.
The grants, awarded by various state and local agencies, are intended to support a range of initiatives. The New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety provided $79,482 for the Body-Worn Camera Grant Program. Additionally, $850,000 from the Local Freight Impact Fund Program is earmarked for the reconstruction of Industrial Drive, a project anticipated to improve local infrastructure significantly. Meanwhile, the Burlington County Municipal Park grant program has contributed $175,000 towards constructing an inclusive playground, promoting accessibility and enjoyment for all residents.
In the realm of public safety, an update was provided detailing the department’s activities over the previous month, including a total of 3,223 incidents responded to, 71 arrests, and 265 vehicle summonses issued. Notably, officers quickly resolved a burglary case on Belleview Avenue, leading to the identification and arrest of three juvenile suspects. Due to their age, further details on the arrests remain confidential.
Infrastructure developments were also highlighted, with ongoing work on the Union Landing Road sidewalk project and the imminent start of road reconstruction efforts on Pheasant Run Drive and other key streets. Residents were reminded to anticipate detours during these improvements. Additionally, American Water continues its water main replacement project in specified areas of the township.
The Council also approved resolutions related to the electronic tax sale process, mutual aid agreements, and the purchase and outfitting of police vehicles and equipment. A notable resolution authorized a contract with Axon Enterprises for police tasers and video equipment, emphasizing the town’s focus on modernizing law enforcement tools.
