The City Park revitalization was a prominent topic, with the Parks Commission discussing plans to present a proposal to the Nisswa City Council in August. The proposal, developed by WTH, stems from discussions held during the June Parks Commission meeting, where it was decided to move forward with site planning. The Commission is also engaged in ongoing fundraising efforts, as evidenced by recent publicity campaigns on social media and local newspapers. Further, an informational session regarding phase one of the City Park project is being considered for September.

In terms of accessibility improvements, the parks and community center facilities underwent updates in July, transitioning older door knobs to lever handles to enhance accessibility. Additionally, the community center’s furnace and air conditioning systems were replaced as part of semiannual maintenance.

The Parks Commission also reported on the completion of summer recreational programs and the opening of registration for fall activities. Upcoming offerings include flag football, fall soccer, and dining etiquette classes. Between the Lakes Park had a new pit toilet installed, and ongoing maintenance is being conducted on trails and parking areas.

The commission is also focusing on a downtown master plan, seeking a volunteer from the community to participate in committee meetings. This plan will cover various aspects, such as infrastructure and pedestrian connectivity, which are pertinent to the city’s parks and trails.
