Ideas floated included incorporating a movie in the park with the historic baseball game, canoe and kayak races, and obtaining funding for free water and popcorn through a small town grant. The commission underscored the importance of planning a new event soon and discussed the logistics of obtaining a license for showing a movie, including selecting a location and setting a rain date.

Updates were provided on various projects, including the success of the summer Recreation Camp, which had reached full registration with waiting lists for certain weeks. There was a discussion on the timing of the installation of chess tables at Heritage Park, the inclusive playground, and the management of Capital Money. Furthermore, the commission considered different options for the circle area at Village Park, such as the installation of a water feature or a flat open gazezebo. The suggestion of a replica of the historic water tower as an art installation was also put forward, considering the potential for art donations or partnerships.

Other maintenance issues discussed included the missing life preserver in Memorial Park, unpainted parking lines in Heritage Park, and the problem of parking in the bike lane. The commission acknowledged the need for a more detailed follow-up process regarding the Department of Public Works list.

The commission decided to suspend the scheduled August meeting due to the unavailability of several members. Additionally, the possibility of coordinating the ribbon-cutting for the new playground with the 2024 historic baseball event was debated, although the completion date for the playground remained uncertain. The commission also contemplated involving the town in hanging a new scoreboard for the baseball event.
