Prior to his tenure in Delanco, Schwab had a 30-year career in another municipality. Schwab plans to spend his retirement traveling and spending time with his grandchildren, stating, “It’s been an honor and privilege to work with the quality of people that make up Delanco’s organization.”

04:09The search for Schwab’s successor was extensive, involving both the township committee and Jersey Professional Management, a firm specializing in executive recruitment. The process included reviewing 19 initial resumes and conducting interviews with several candidates. Ultimately, Deborah Simmonro was selected for her extensive experience in public administration and finance. Simmonro, who attended the meeting with her husband, Dean, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Accounting and is a licensed certified municipal finance officer in New Jersey. Her previous roles include chief financial officer and treasurer at the Camden County Improvement Authority and acting administrator/CFO in the Borough of Berlin.
