- Meeting Overview:
The Delanco Township Committee’s annual reorganization meeting on January 2, 2025, marked the appointment of Carolyn Seuss as Mayor and Kate Fitzpatrick as Deputy Mayor.
The meeting began with a transition in leadership as newly elected officials took their oaths of office. Carolyn Seuss was unanimously appointed and sworn in as Mayor, with Senator Singleton officiating the ceremony. This leadership change was accompanied by the appointment of Kate Fitzpatrick as Deputy Mayor, solidifying the township’s executive roles for the upcoming year. The committee also welcomed Philip McFaden and Matthew Bartlett as new members, each pledging to uphold their responsibilities with integrity.
Community service and dedication were at the forefront, with the committee honoring Richard Swab and Danielle Bry for their 15 years of service. Richard Swab, present at the ceremony, received his award, while Danielle Bry was acknowledged in her absence. Mayor Seuss further expressed the township’s appreciation by reading a proclamation for Dave Rust, a retiring mail carrier who dedicated 37 years to the United States Postal Service.
The completion of significant infrastructure projects, such as the seawall and park project at the Waterfront, was celebrated. The township also received grant funding for historic remediation along the creek.
Improvements in recreational facilities included the resurfacing of the basketball court at the Bab Ruth complex and the addition of accessibility features. The installation of lights at the soccer field was completed, thanks to state grant funding. Public access to Hulk Island was another milestone achieved, broadening recreational opportunities for residents.
Technological advancements were highlighted, with the installation of acoustical sound panels at the Monesa building and enhancements to streaming capabilities for committee meetings. These upgrades aim to facilitate better communication and engagement with residents, a theme Mayor Seuss emphasized as crucial for effective governance.
A personnel change was acknowledged with the retirement of Chief Adam Tier from the Police Department, following many years of service. The appointment of Basil Warren as acting Chief was ratified.
The Mayor reflected on her journey in local government, emphasizing patience and communication as key lessons learned. She invited residents to reach out with questions or concerns.
Committee members expressed optimism for the new year. They shared their commitment to working collaboratively to achieve the township’s goals. New member McFaden voiced his gratitude to residents and excitement for the opportunity to contribute to Delanco’s development. Other members echoed these sentiments, anticipating a productive year ahead.
The meeting concluded with a benediction from Pastor Wesa, who offered blessings for the community and its leaders. The Mayor acknowledged the vital support of family members, thanking them for their contributions to the committee members’ public service roles.
