During the meeting, the library director highlighted the successful children’s programs, with 838 program attendees in May, and the transition of Erica Petroski to the new Reference Services Supervisor position. The board was informed that the adult and teen programs also saw robust participation and that the library would continue to utilize Beanstack for summer reading program activities.

The library’s circulation statistics were discussed, noting a slight decrease from April but an increase from the previous year. The board was apprised of a recent buy one get one sale by the Friends due to an abundance of donations.

A significant portion of the meeting focused on the new donation policy, which was reviewed and approved with a correction to the document date. The policy outlines the acceptance of monetary and material donations, specifying the library’s rights to refuse or dispose of donations and the tax-deductible nature of monetary contributions.

The library’s strategic plan was also addressed, with over 440 community surveys submitted to help shape the library’s future services. The board was updated on the plan’s progress, including a scheduled meeting with the library supervisors and the strategic plan consultant to prioritize services and draft the plan.

Additionally, the Friends reported on their previous meeting, celebrating the awarding of the Bernard and Norma Vinck Memorial Scholarship to two local students and announcing a decision to increase the number of scholarships next year. Plans for the Friends’ 30th-anniversary celebration and upcoming fundraising events were also shared.
