The parking lot on Parker Street was a focal point due to several discrepancies between its construction and the approved site plans. The Department of Public Works (DPW) identified issues such as incorrect design of touch bases, improper asphalt mixing unable to support weights of trash bins, and concerns that the trash cans could sink into the built asphalt. Additionally, stormwater retention problems were raised, with retention assets potentially directing runoff towards wetlands. The Planning Board authorized the DPW to enforce compliance by working with the contractor and owner to rectify the parking lot issues. The Board warned that continued noncompliance could lead to a suspension of the site plan, affecting the usage of the property.

In another matter, the Board granted a special permit to Little Caesars Pizza on Shaker Road after a satisfactory presentation and discussion regarding set hours for deliveries, trash pickup, and operation, as well as addressing parking space concerns.

Additionally, the Board agreed to extend the performance guarantee for the happy acre subdivision for an additional year, until August 4th, 2025. This was to allow for the completion of the work, which is reportedly nearing its end, with roads and utilities substantially in place.

The meeting also touched upon the reorganization of the board, with nominations for Chair, Vice-Chair, and Clerk positions, alongside the reappointment of George Kingston to the Planning Board. Furthermore, the Planning Board considered adding a meeting on July 30th, as suggested by the Town Manager’s office, to address a gap in the schedule that could impact permit applications and processing times.
