The availability of funds for transfer was attributed to savings in areas such as legal services, teacher and paraprofessional salaries, and medical therapeutic staff—partly due to unfilled positions and the use of agency staff over direct hires.

During the discussions, a motion to accept the FY24 end-of-year transfers was made, seconded, and unanimously carried. The School Committee also moved to approve a new three-year contract for the school district’s Food Services, which had been discussed in a prior executive session. This motion was similarly passed without opposition.

The reorganization of the School Committee followed, where nominations and elections for the positions of chair and vice-chair were conducted. The committee also discussed the allocation of responsibilities among subcommittees, with particular focus on finding a representative for the collaborative, which has experienced difficulties in achieving quorums. After some deliberation, a member volunteered to take on the collaborative role, emphasizing the importance of consistent representation.
