Library Director Allan M. Kleiman outlined the key improvements made during the renovation. Notably, the library now has an automated materials handling room, allowing patrons to return books 24/7, making Edison one of only four libraries in New Jersey to offer this technology. This innovation is expected to streamline the library’s operations and increase convenience for users.

The library is seeking input from the teen advisory board to tailor this area to the needs and preferences of its intended users. Additionally, the renovation includes a new children’s program room, a meeting space, and modernized restrooms.

Mayor Sam Joshi emphasized the importance of the library as a cornerstone of the community’s educational infrastructure. He praised the library’s strategic location next to a middle school and highlighted the renovations as a critical step toward maintaining the library’s relevance and utility for decades to come.

Other improvements include the creation of a maker space, which received a $3,000 grant for programming, and the addition of study rooms and a conference room. These spaces are designed to facilitate collaborative learning and provide dedicated areas for study and meetings.

These include ongoing renovations at the North Edison branch and updates to the Clara Barton branch. The library also anticipates the arrival of a new bookmobile to enhance its outreach efforts.
