- Meeting Overview:
The Egg Harbor Township Council meeting introduced William Pauls as the newest member of the governing body, sworn in to fill a vacant seat. The appointment of Pauls, a choice of the township Republican County Committee, was the most notable item discussed. Additionally, the Council took the time to formally recognize Patrick Quinn’s transition from a part-time to a full-time dispatcher for the Egg Harbor Township Police Department, emphasizing the importance of dispatchers in emergency response.
During the meeting, William Pauls was officially sworn in as a council member, an event marked by the presence of family, friends, and local dignitaries. Pauls, with 45 years of residency in the township, expressed his eagerness to give back to the community. The ceremony included introductions of his family, acknowledging his wife Jenny Pauls, daughter Dr. Jen Baldwin, and her husband Matt Baldwin, as well as his grandson Ryan. Rich Clue, Deputy Mayor of Galloway Township and Pauls’s former apprentice, was also present to show his support.
In another notable moment, Police Chief Ray Ellis took the opportunity to highlight the critical role dispatchers play in the community. Patrick Quinn was brought forward and commended for his work and promotion to a full-time position. The Chief’s remarks underscored the psychological toll that dispatchers experience and the push to recognize them as First Responders. Members of the police department and other dispatchers attended the meeting in support of Quinn.
The Council also addressed routine matters, including the passage of resolutions ranging from number 81 to 102, authorizing the release of closed session minutes, and approving the payment of bills. Public comments were invited, but no issues were raised.
The meeting concluded with reports from the council members. Pauls reiterated his appreciation for the opportunity to serve the community. Council Member Paul Hodson praised the township’s emergency services. Council Members Joe Cafero and Ray Ellis, Jr. did not have reports at this time.
