Leading the agenda was the reappointment of various instructional and administrative personnel. Following the Superintendent’s recommendation, the board voted in favor of approving both Yekaterina Baranova as Teacher of Music at multiple schools and Nikki Remschel as an Elementary Teacher at Lyncrest School, with respective salaries set at $65,552 and $58,952 effective September 1, 2023.

In a unanimous decision, the board also backed the reappointment of tenured, to-tenure, and non-tenured certificated instructional and educational services personnel, with annual salary rates corresponding to the 2023-2024 salary schedule set out by the Fair Lawn Board of Education and the Fair Lawn Education Association.

The evening’s decisions extended to the reappointment of administrative and supervisory staff, secretarial and clerical workers, as well as custodial, maintenance, grounds, and bus driver personnel. All reappointments adhered to respective agreements between the Fair Lawn Board of Education and the corresponding associations. It’s noteworthy that certain salary schedules are pending until a successor agreement is reached.

Further, an approval of extracurricular trips was passed, including a nod to a large-scale TJMS Carnival scheduled for May 19, 2023, in Fair Lawn. The event expects participation from 1,145 students and 80 chaperones, at no added cost to the board.

One agenda item that drew attention was the approval of a settlement agreement between the Board and an unnamed employee, labeled only by the number 4332. The specific details of this agreement remain confidential and are on file in the office of the Director of Human Resources.

The board, after concluding their open-session deliberations, recessed into closed sessions twice during the meeting, hinting at private matters requiring discussion.

The next regular monthly meetings of the Fair Lawn Board of Education are slated for May 22, June 22, and July 27 at Edison School, Room 19.
