At the June 26th, 2024 meeting, the discussion about the pier was a focal point. The North City Pier has been a hub of successful events, including Rock the Dock and the popular kite night, which attracted over 500 attendees. With the 4th of July approaching, further activities and attractions, such as food trucks, bar service, and two bands, are expected to draw in crowds. Additionally, the meeting addressed the installation of kiosks and a gang box for storage of items necessary for pier maintenance and events.

In the realm of environmental matters, there was talk about the environmental closeout issues involving National Grid. An amendment to the environmental agreement is being negotiated due to concerns raised by National Grid about handling potentially contaminated soil, even though the area in question is reportedly filled with clean backfill.

The meeting also touched upon ongoing projects such as the Northfield development, where test pits will be conducted to determine soil composition for embankment repairs. The Harbor Master is set to provide data to inform the planning of mooring fields between the cove and South Pier.

Regarding the Pleasant Street Flint area, the Authority has filed an expanded environmental notification form with the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA) office. They are awaiting instructions for the next steps, which may include an environmental impact report. This step is part of the process in seeking approval for an urban renewal plan that will be presented to the city council.

In terms of community involvement and planning, a master plan for the Davol Street Corridor is in the works with public input sessions and stakeholder meetings planned for the coming months. The stakeholder group, comprising nearly 20 members from various sectors, aims to guide the development of this corridor.
