A primary focus of the meeting was the approval of contracts for electrical upgrades at housing complexes. The board awarded a $644,600 contract to Angie Electric for fire alarm system upgrades at the Chore Bishop Eid Apartments and a $153,340 contract to MVY Electrical Contractors, Inc. for electrical upgrades at the Edward F. Dulan Apartments. These upgrades aim to enhance safety and reliability for residents. The bidding process concluded in July, and contracts were contingent upon final approvals.

The board also approved an amendment to the financial assistance contract with the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC). This amendment, valued at nearly $800,000, extends financial assistance for housing services from June 2028 to June 2035.

During the executive director’s update, acknowledgments were given to personnel and community members who provided exceptional support to fire victims from the Gabriel House. Their efforts included coordinating moves, delivering furniture, and facilitating donations. Organizations such as Eminem Movers and My Brother’s Keeper, alongside the Firefighters Association, were highlighted for their contributions.

Community engagement was a recurring theme, with the director noting the success of summer events like cookouts and movie nights, coordinated by resident service teams. These activities offered enjoyment for residents and were praised for their successful execution.
