Fall River Licensing Board Approves Multiple License Transfers and Extensions for Local Businesses
- Meeting Overview:
The Fall River Licensing Board convened on December 25, 2025, to deliberate and approve several significant license transfers and extensions for local businesses. The meeting addressed various requests, including changes in management, extensions of operating hours, and the renewal of multiple licenses, all of which were approved without opposition.
The meeting opened with a request from the Community Housing Resource Board for a lodging house license for their property on Rock Street. Stacy Demora explained that the board had acquired the property earlier in the year and was unaware of the need to apply for a lodging permit during the renewal process of the previous license holder. With no objections, the board unanimously approved the lodging house license.
A notable approval was granted to the Liberal Club on Star Street. Paul L. DeForge Jr., who was transitioning into the manager role, presented a request for changes in management and a one-time extension of business hours for specific events, including Thanksgiving Eve, New Year’s Eve, and Super Bowl Sunday. The extension was proposed until 1:00 a.m. for these occasions. After confirming with the police department that there were no issues, the board approved the changes and the extension of hours unanimously.
Another topic was the management change at Tequila Lime Cantina. Attorney Cheryl Bernard, representing Nicholas Oza, clarified that while Oza would be taking over the management, the corporation itself would remain unchanged. Oza, leveraging over two decades of experience in the liquor industry, was prepared to take charge of the establishment. The board, assured by the absence of any police objections, approved the management transition without further discussion, maintaining the business’s operational stability.
The board also reviewed a similar request from the Fall River Sports Club on Hope Street, where Jan El Rigo sought to modernize the club’s operations by changing management and officers. With no police department objections, the board approved these changes, facilitating the club’s efforts to update and refine its business practices.
In addition to management changes, the board considered a license transfer to TTC Entertainment LLC for a new culinary venture on South Main Street. Tenu Yen and attorney Hong Tran outlined plans to convert the existing establishment into a pho and ramen restaurant. The proposal included late-night service on weekends, which the board approved unanimously after confirming no objections from the police.
Further, the board addressed the transfer of a license for JN MN LLC at 347-351 Alden Street. Represented by Joel Msia and attorney David Assad, the operation was set to continue as the Modern Snack Bar, with no changes to its interior or hours of operation. The board discussed the stipulation regarding alcohol service on Sundays and confirmed that the business could serve breakfast from 7:00 a.m. With all concerns addressed, the board approved the license transfer unanimously.
The meeting also involved procedural matters, including the renewal of multiple 2026 licenses for common victuals, class one, class two, and class three businesses, as well as fortune teller and lodging house licenses. Each list was read aloud with names and addresses, and the renewals were approved without any public objections or comments.
In old business, the board approved a new location for Grand Motors LLC on Anowan Street. Mr. Sylvester presented the request for the wholesale auto sales license, which was granted following a brief discussion on the specifics of the license type.
