The town’s water superintendent provided a detailed update on the level two drought designation affecting the Cape region, attributing the conditions to insufficient rainfall and low reservoir levels. The board discussed various water conservation measures, including the enforcement of watering restrictions and the potential use of non-potable water for gardens and sports fields. On a different note, the board deliberated the future leasing of the Falmouth Country Club Golf Course, addressing the challenges of securing a qualified operator to manage the facility. With the current lease set to expire in December 2024, the board explored options for attracting bids, including revising financial terms and lease duration to make the proposal more appealing. The board considered a more flexible leasing approach, including the possibility of reducing the lease term to ten years with a renewal option, to attract a wider pool of potential operators.

The meeting also touched on the implementation of grinder pumps for future sewer projects, following the model established during the Little Pond project.
