The council discussed the demolition of the structure and pavement on Central Avenue, a property purchased by the city with redevelopment hopes that have since shifted focus. The current plan is to clear the site, restore it with green space, and await future redevelopment opportunities. The project is expected to cost approximately $50,000. Additionally, concerns were raised about potential contamination due to the site’s history as a gas station, but a hazardous materials inspection has been completed on the building materials and site.

A resolution was also passed to move forward with a citywide tree removal project aimed at removing diseased and dead trees from over 90 properties. The project will be divided into four separate contracts, allowing smaller contractors to bid on the work. The estimated cost is approximately $400,000, with an October completion target. Property owners will be specially assessed for the cost of tree removal.

The council accepted bids for the 2025 miscellaneous street reconstruction project, awarding the contract to Icon LLC for just over $475,000. The project includes street improvements in three areas and is expected to start in July and August. The construction will involve the Amber Court, Grant Street, and Division Street.
