Franklin Library Board Accepts $40,000 Gift to Honor Twin Educators
- Meeting Overview:
At the recent Franklin Township Public Library Board of Trustees meeting, the board accepted a $40,000 gift from Jennifer Kellogg, a relative of the Diamonte sisters, in recognition of their long-standing educational service in the township. The donation will be used to name the children’s section of the library after the sisters, who were twin educators with a combined 100 years of teaching service. A plaque with biographical details will also be installed to commemorate their contributions.
In addition to the generous gift acceptance, the board discussed the approval of a salary increase for the library director, raising the annual salary to $159,000, effective July 1, 2025. This decision followed a motion passed during an executive session.
The board also highlighted the library’s recent activities, including the transition to automatic item renewals as of May 1, which has reduced overdue items significantly. The library’s participation in the township’s Pride Day on June 6 was noted, despite inclement weather, with nearly 80 visitors engaging with the library’s information booth. Upcoming events were also previewed, with the summer reading challenges set to begin on June 23.
