- Meeting Overview:
In its recent meeting on August 12, the Galloway School Board approved the appointment of Alison Rusan as the new supervisor of Early Childhood. The Board also undertook a detailed review and approval of various policies, including the abolishment of outdated ones and the introduction of new ones for first and final readings.
One item at the meeting was the introduction of Alison Rusan as the new supervisor of Early Childhood. The Board welcomed Rusan with applause. This move aligns with the district’s ongoing efforts to enhance early childhood education, an area that has been a focal point for the Board. “Give a warm Galloway Welcome to our supervisor of Early Childhood Alison Rusan,” one member said, emphasizing the importance of this new role.
The Board also engaged in an extensive policy review session. A total of 24 policies were approved for second and final readings, while another set of eight policies underwent revisions. One policy was abolished. The policy committee spent considerable time discussing these changes.
In addition, the Board approved items related to curriculum and instruction, as well as finance and facilities. The finance committee provided an update on the Galloway Township Community Health and Ping Tower projects, which are expected to be completed by early June next year.
The meeting also saw discussions on the professional development plan for the district. This plan aims to equip teachers and staff with the necessary skills and knowledge to adapt to new educational standards and technologies. The Board unanimously approved the plan, highlighting its importance for the district’s growth and improvement.
Another noteworthy discussion was about the Board’s annual retreat. After some debate, the Board decided to hold the retreat on September 16. This decision was made to ensure that all members could attend and participate in discussions crucial for the district’s strategic planning.
Lastly, the Board encouraged community members to support the Galloway Township Education Foundation’s upcoming fundraising events. These events, including a golf tournament and designer purse bingo, are essential for funding various educational programs and initiatives within the district.
