The council’s approval of the grant application for the Mayes Avenue, Hamilton Road, and Spencer Avenue Improvement project marks a considerable investment in the borough’s infrastructure.

In addition to infrastructure, the council also focused on community engagement and services. A resolution was passed to authorize a Professional Services agreement with Taga Associates LLC to provide tax and water collection services for the borough at a rate not to exceed $96,000 annually. This resolution ensures that the borough maintains efficient and effective collection services, which is fundamental for its financial health.

Adding to the community-centric initiatives, the council approved a popup picnic event to be held in July, which will include food, beer, and entertainment. This event is part of the council’s efforts to foster community spirit and provide engaging activities for residents. Additionally, the council authorized the submission of applications for social affair and catering permits related to upcoming events, further highlighting the importance of social activities in enhancing community bonds.

On a notable note, the council acknowledged a recent event held by the Belleville Historical Society, which honored African-American Civil War veterans with restored grave markers.

In the Public Works sphere, the council approved the purchase and installation of new water meters, representing a notable step toward modernizing the borough’s water infrastructure. The total cost for the meters and installation services amounted to over $395,000, with the project being awarded to National Metering Services.
