Halifax Fire Department to Host Community Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser
- Meeting Overview:
During the recent Halifax Board of Selectmen meeting, plans were approved for a pancake breakfast fundraiser at the Halifax Fire Department. The event, slated for December 8, aims to raise funds for the firefighters’ union, with a nominal fee of $10 per person or a maximum of $40 per family. The breakfast will be held inside the firehouse, and participants can expect a festive atmosphere, including a visit from Santa. Coordination with the call department association is ongoing, but the union is prepared to proceed independently if necessary. The board expressed support for the event, emphasizing its potential to foster community solidarity.
In other matters, the board appointed Kelsey Holt to the Capital Planning Committee. Holt, a recent Halifax resident and experienced construction project manager, impressed the board with her background in financial management and previous community involvement in East Bridgewater. Her appointment was unanimously approved, with board members expressing confidence in her ability to contribute to the committee’s sporadic schedule of meetings.
Additionally, Kimberly Campbell was appointed to the Holidays in Halifax Committee. Known for her active participation in community events and connections within the industry, Campbell’s appointment was seen as a significant asset to the committee’s efforts in organizing holiday events and fundraisers.
The board also discussed outreach initiatives to establish stronger connections with newly elected state representatives and senators. It was agreed that letters of congratulations and invitations for future discussions would be sent to representatives Sweezy, Onra, and Senator Brady. This initiative aims to ensure that Halifax maintains a productive relationship with its state legislators, particularly given the town’s division into small districts.
Updates included a commendation for the town clerk and election staff for their efficient handling of the recent election, as well as progress on the proposed Council on Aging project. The project manager has been appointed, and requests for design proposals are expected to be issued soon, with construction anticipated to start by September next year.
