The focus of the meeting was the recognition of the retiring staff members who had served the district for many years. Michelle McFarland was applauded for her volunteer work, which benefited the community. Sandra Zachai Nord received commendation for her 29 years of versatile roles and her substantial impact on education. The acknowledgment of Debbie Hackley’s nearly 20-year tenure as a paraprofessional highlighted her dedication to students and her influential presence in the classroom. Retirees such as Miss Townson, Mr. Alo, Mrs. El, and Miss Luca were also honored, with each individual recognized for their unique contributions and the difference they made in the lives of their students and colleagues.

In addition to celebrating retirees, the meeting also introduced new members to the school community. Sarah Steckler was welcomed as an ESL teacher at the DAV school, and Amy Dennis was appointed as the district registrar.

The Public Hearing on the 2024-25 budget was a significant agenda item, yet it did not garner questions from the public. The board seamlessly moved to adopt the budget and approved the requisition of taxes from the township of Hamilton.

Curriculum development was a key topic, with the board discussing the implementation of a new English Language Arts (ELA) program designed to improve literacy and comprehension across grades. The board also touched upon the Danielson training for teacher observations, an initiative aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of educational practices and teacher development.

The meeting briefly highlighted the pet therapy program at Shaner School, which contributes to student well-being, and the successful Week of the Young Child event.
