Ho-Ho-Kus Borough Council Awards West Saddle River Road Resurfacing Contract

In a recent teleconference on August 3, 2023, the Ho-Ho-Kus Borough Council, under the leadership of Mayor Thomas Randall, awarded a significant contract for the resurfacing of West Saddle River Road to J.A. Alexander, Inc.

The meeting commenced punctually at 11:00 a.m. with Mayor Randall overseeing the proceedings. After confirming the attendance of council members, including Douglas Troast, Steven Shell, Kevin Crossley, Dane Policastro, and Kathleen Moran, it was noted that Councilman Edmund Iannelli was absent. Also in attendance were William Jones, the Borough Administrator, and Joan Herve, the Borough Clerk.

The purpose of the meeting was to evaluate bids for the resurfacing project of West Saddle River Road, Sections 1 & 2. Eight contractors had submitted their bids. Upon review, the council found J.A. Alexander, Inc., located in North Bloomfield, New Jersey, to be the most suitable candidate for the job. They were deemed the lowest responsible and responsive bidder, securing the contract for an amount of $286,465.66. As a precautionary measure, the bid of the next lowest bidder, D.L.S. Contracting, will be retained pending the finalization of the contract with J.A. Alexander.

The decision to award the contract was supported unanimously by the council members present. Councilman Policastro initiated the motion, with Councilman Crossley seconding the proposal. With no public comments or additional issues to discuss, the meeting concluded quickly, adjourning at 11:04 a.m.
