Broken wheel stops and exposed rebar were highlighted as issues, raising doubts about the sufficiency of the proposed $8,000 for repairs. A member suggested reassessing the budget to potentially allocate more funds, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive evaluation of the parking lot’s repair requirements. This assessment is expected to be revisited in the CRA’s January meeting.

The meeting further delved into the aesthetic and structural concerns of the downtown area, with particular attention given to the dumpster enclosure in the pier parking lot. Despite recent painting efforts, structural issues persist, with a top hinge creating a hole in the masonry. The agency also discussed the unattractive appearance of the old Dolphin Depot site and the need for better signage and fencing.

In addition, the meeting highlighted the need for interdepartmental coordination, specifically between the CRA and the Parks and Recreation Department, to address parking block repairs in the parking lot. A thorough assessment of the repairs required is anticipated, with plans to present findings and a comprehensive strategy at the January meeting.

The CRA also planned a joint meeting with the city council on January 21, where discussions will include construction fencing to improve aesthetics during ongoing projects. The January schedule is notably packed, with a workshop on the 14th, the joint meeting on the 21st, and a regular meeting on the 26th. The agency aims to organize topics for these sessions effectively and provide members with a consolidated meeting list and discussion topics.
