The primary focus of the meeting was the board’s decision to consolidate their Geographic Information System (GIS) services, which has resulted in significant savings for the town. Previously, the town maintained two separate systems: Vision Appraisal and CI Technology. Both systems offered similar functionalities, particularly in terms of property mapping and public data access. However, the board decided to discontinue one of the systems last year, leading to a budget reduction of approximately $4,500. The board members discussed the advantages of the CI Technology system, which provides an integrated property card and mapping service, although it updates ownership information more frequently than Vision’s static property data.

The meeting also saw the introduction of Dan Hollow as a returning board member. Hollow has prior experience on the board, having served from April 2018 to April 2021. The board welcomed his return, highlighting the value of his previous contributions and experience.

Additionally, the board addressed a property tax abatement issue concerning a solar installation on town-owned land. The issue arose from a billing error where both the land and solar panels were billed together, which is not permissible unless both properties are owned by the same entity. The pilot agreement was rewritten to rectify this error.
