The student representative brought attention to the ongoing issues at the high school, particularly the conditions of the bathrooms and locker rooms. A survey was proposed to gather student feedback on building improvements. The superintendent acknowledged these concerns and reassured that the district has allocated resources to upgrade the high school, with a plan to prioritize and phase in further improvements.

The musical talents of students were also recognized, with awards being presented to those who made it into the NJ AJ region one North Jersey Jazz Band, and to those who were part of the Bergen County region choir and band. The middle school spelling bee champion and students who received the Montclair State art scholarship were commended for their academic and artistic achievements.

Superintendent Joseph A. DeCorso welcomed attendees and expressed gratitude to the families for their support, while highlighting the community’s diversity and commitment to excellence. The state monitor supported the District’s financial reports and the proposed budget.

The financial stability of the district was evidenced by the reported current budget surplus, attributed to conservative budgeting. The surplus funds were earmarked for capital and maintenance reserve accounts to ensure the district is prepared for future projects and unforeseen expenses. During the budget discussion, the estimated revenues and expenditures were presented, with the business administrator providing a detailed account of the financial projections for the upcoming school year.
