During the meeting, discussions focused on the Welcoming Week event, which took place on a rainy Friday. Despite the weather, the event attracted several attendees, with many citing the visible food trucks as their reason for stopping by. The root beer floats were particularly popular, with the ice cream running out by the event’s end. Feedback from exhibitors and food vendors was largely positive, with two out of three food trucks reporting strong business. The commission acknowledged the challenge of setting up due to parking issues and considered notifying local businesses in advance for future events to ease the setup process.

The commission also discussed its decision to withdraw from this year’s Pride Parade due to a lack of volunteer participation, expressing hope to revisit participation next year. Additionally, the Education Committee provided updates on an upcoming session focused on blindness and vision impairment, scheduled for October 13th at the library. This session will feature six speakers, and the committee is preparing materials and questions to engage attendees.
