In financial discussions, the library director presented a comprehensive financial report, highlighting that the 2025 budget is approximately 91.22% expended when excluding specific projects like the Mellon Foundation grant and badge cabling. The board approved a carryover of $13,545 from the 2025 office furniture and equipment budget to the 2026 budget. This will complete the replacement of children’s room picture book bins and add shelving near the service desk.

The board also accepted several donations totaling $3,600.37, including notable contributions from the Friends of the New Ulm Public Library and other community members. These donations will support adult programming, book purchases, and other library needs.

Library staffing updates included the resignation of a newly hired library aide who found a better-suited position elsewhere, and the posting of a newly titled library assistant position. Additionally, the board discussed updates to the reference aide job description to better reflect the role’s duties.
