A new program was established to assist residents with hazardous tree removal, prioritizing safety and property protection. The council also ratified the submission of grant applications for law enforcement initiatives, including a $38,616 grant from the Department of Justice and a $9,687 grant from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. These funds aim to support equipment, training, and a comprehensive health and wellness platform for law enforcement personnel.

Additionally, the council adopted the city’s five-year consolidated plan and annual action plan, outlining strategies under the Community Development Block Grant and Home Investment Partnerships programs to support affordable housing and community development.

In administrative actions, the council approved an ordinance on first reading to increase the city manager’s purchasing authority from $30,000 to $50,000 without council approval, facilitating more efficient procurement processes. They also set the millage rate at up to 7.4 mills, with further discussions to occur in upcoming budget workshops and hearings.
