The proposed budget emphasizes maintaining public services without increasing the mill rate, thanks to strategic resource allocation. It prioritizes public safety, infrastructure projects, and neighborhood services while also aiming to strengthen the city’s financial reserves.

Infrastructure developments were highlighted, including the construction of the Northeast 131st Street pedestrian bridge and the completion of the Northeast 121st drainage project. These projects are part of a broader effort to improve flood mitigation and maintain the city’s infrastructure. The administration also plans to continue upgrading utility infrastructure to ensure long-term sustainability, introducing water rate adjustments based on a recent study.

A key component of the budget is the expansion of community services, such as twice-monthly food distribution programs and housing assistance initiatives. Over the past year, the city has approved six new development projects, adding 213 residential units to support housing needs and expand the tax base.

Capital improvement projects were also addressed, with plans to enhance parks, playgrounds, and recreational facilities. The budget includes staffing increases, with 22 additional part-time and 14 full-time positions proposed to support new and existing amenities.
