Library Director Paul Brazil, also serving as the Youth Council liaison, led the discussion, explaining the structure and purpose of the Youth Council. Brazil highlighted that the Youth Council aims to empower young people in North Miami by providing them with a platform to voice their concerns and learn about local government operations.

Currently, the Youth Council is looking to fill several positions, including Youth Mayor, Youth Vice Mayor, Youth City Attorney, Youth City Manager, and Youth City Clerk. Brazil mentioned that the deadline for applications had been extended to October 1st, with a possibility of further extension if necessary. The goal is to recruit at least four more members to complete the council.

In addition to recruitment, Brazil announced that the Youth Council members would have the opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. for the Haitian Ladies Network Conference. This conference will provide community service hours and a learning experience for the youth, emphasizing the importance of representation.
