This decline is attributed to improved access to care and increased community awareness about addiction treatment options. The board noted that while overdoses have decreased, there is still a need for more medication-assisted treatment providers and a broader acceptance of such treatments within the community.

Another focus of the meeting was the successful transition of patients in the EMS core program, which maintains an 88% success rate despite an increase in patient appointments. The program has seen a 44% year-over-year increase in appointments.

The board also discussed the progress of several funded programs, such as the purchase of a mobile clinic to enhance outreach capabilities. Community Health Northwest Florida presented a heat map illustrating the distribution of their core patients across Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, emphasizing the widespread impact of their services.

Additionally, the board reviewed updates from various community partners, including Ministry Village, which is finalizing plans for building projects, and Lake View Opus, which reported distributing Narcan and conducting educational outreach among vulnerable populations. The board is also preparing to award contracts to nine new community partners, further expanding the network of support services.
