The first honoree was Jong Mo Cho, posthumously recognized for his 30-year legacy as a historian and mentor. His wife, Goldie Cho, accepted the award on his behalf. The mayor highlighted Mr. Cho’s role as a “Voice of Truth” and a “Guiding Light” for both the New York and New Jersey communities.

Next, Master Jangstar was honored for his extensive charitable work, which extended beyond Palisades Park into Jersey City. The mayor praised Jangstar for his unrecognized yet impactful contributions, noting his reluctance to step into the spotlight despite his community service.

Victoria Mota was another recipient of the Mayor’s Certificate of Appreciation. For over three decades, she has supported the Guatemalan community in Palisades Park, providing essential resources such as school supplies and food. Mota also served as an unofficial liaison for the police. In her acceptance speech, Mota expressed deep gratitude to the community and local police department for their support over the years.

Mr. Won Po was recognized for his role as a reformer and early education advocate. As the first Korean-American member of the Board of Education, Po was instrumental in establishing the Early Education Center, which continues to benefit the community.

The Duffy family was acknowledged for their dedication to maintaining their home and garden. Their landscaping efforts were celebrated as an inspiration to others in the community.

The meeting also included expressions of gratitude to various sponsors who contributed to the anniversary celebrations. Notable mentions included Justin Kang from Good Neighbor Realty, Jong Man Song of the Nail Business Association of New Jersey, and Michelle Choy from Reset Diet Wellness, among others.
