The most prominent discussion centered around Piscataway High School’s proposed solar upgrade. The school’s existing solar array, installed in 2010, has been decommissioned, and a new array of equal capacity but with a more efficient design is planned. This new installation will focus on the Susan B. Anthony wing, utilizing 2,223 solar modules to generate approximately 1.1 megawatts. The new system promises a reduced overall footprint on the roof, minimizing visual impact by positioning inverters and interconnection panels discreetly.

Similarly, Quibbletown Middle School is set to upgrade its solar infrastructure. The existing system, which dates back to 2011, will be replaced by a new array with equivalent capacity and footprint. This project aims to install 635 solar modules, generating around 315 kilowatts, and will maintain existing protections for the equipment from the school’s parking area.

The board members were particularly interested in understanding the financial aspects, inquiring whether federal grant money would be utilized for these upgrades.

Beyond the solar projects, other agenda items included the adjournment of discussions on a redevelopment plan and an ordinance amendment until the next meeting in January. Additionally, several resolutions were memorialized, including those related to Solar Landscape LLC and Eastern Lift Truck Company, Inc..
