The holiday lighting project aims to enhance the seasonal ambiance by installing lights along newly improved streets, including Anley Boulevard, Main Street, Martin Luther King Avenue, and the Old Turnpike. This initiative is designed to use Urban Enterprise Zone funds, thereby not impacting taxpayers directly. The approved amount is close to the estimated cost, with the goal of spending less if possible.

Other resolutions included the appointment of Stacy Slater as fund commissioner and Shelana Stewart as alternate commissioner to the Municipal Joint Insurance Fund, the application for a Local Efficiency Achievement Program (LEAP) implementation grant, and a Green Acres Program initiative by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.

The City Council also introduced the 2024 budget for Pleasantville. In terms of expenses, the bill list revealed discussions on various city operations, including payroll, street sweepers’ parts, cleaning services for the fire department, and improvements to softball fields and other recreational facilities.

During the meeting, there was a request to table a bill for a conflict attorney, which was granted. Additionally, the council addressed a public safety matter involving training for new firefighter recruits.
