- Meeting Overview:
The Revere License Commission held its latest meeting, approving applications including a beer garden for the annual Fall Festival, alterations to existing premises, and various one-day event licenses. The commission also addressed ongoing noise issues with local businesses and reviewed communications from the Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission.
The meeting’s most notable approval was for the annual Fall Festival, presented by event manager Rose Burns. The application sought a one-day malt wine common victual and entertainment license for the event, scheduled on October 5, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Broadway, between Pleasant Street and Chiva Streets. Burns explained that the festival would feature a beer garden operated by Murray’s Tavern, which had submitted its alcohol control plan for review. This year, the beer garden will be fenced off and located in front of City Hall, a change from previous years. The commission noted no public opposition and promptly approved the application, ensuring a smooth setup for the expected 1,500 attendees. The rain date was confirmed as October 6.
Another approval involved an alteration of premises for Cafeteria L Delicias Colombianas Inc. on Shirley Avenue. Attorney Frank R. represented the applicant, detailing the addition of a bar with eight seats and two restrooms. The rest of the premises would remain unchanged. After closing the hearing with no opposition, the commission approved the application, allowing the business to enhance its facilities.
The commission also addressed a one-day malt wine and entertainment license application for the grand opening of Peros Pus R on Beach Street, managed by Andre Samario. The opening date was tentatively set for late September or early October. The commission approved the application after confirming no opposition, allowing the business to proceed with its plans.
Ongoing compliance issues were discussed concerning Am Salgado LLC, doing business as Lahasenda 2 on River Street. Manager Aldo Cus, accompanied by his brother Miguel, reported improvements in noise level management and crowd behavior, attributing some challenges to warm weather. The commission acknowledged the positive changes, including the addition of security personnel and parking lot modifications. A member shared a favorable experience during a recent visit. As a result, the commission agreed to restore the business’s operating hours from 1:00 a.m. back to 2:00 a.m., contingent upon continued compliance with noise regulations.
Issues with Four Partners Inc. DBA Antonia at the Beach, located on R Beach Boulevard, were also reviewed. A representative named Fernando addressed concerns about unauthorized transfers and the absence of an approved license manager. Fernando confirmed that the necessary legal paperwork had been completed, including appointing an on-site manager. The commission noted the progress and suggested the matter could be resolved, with Fernando expressing gratitude for the guidance received.
Additionally, the commission reviewed communications from the Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission (ABCC). Notifications included the returns of no action regarding change of manager applications for Revere Lodge 1171 and R Restaurant Group Inc. DBA T1 Margarita’s Mexican Restaurant. An approval was noted for the transfer of an all-alcohol restaurant license to Proo Brothers LLC DBA Black Cantina 2024.
